Public Accounts FAQ
Viber has updated the review process for new Public Account requests. Qualified Public Account requests and promotions are limited to large brands and companies, and high-profile accounts in countries where Viber operates its business solutions. We encourage current and potential Public Account customers to carefully review the FAQ and guidelines below regarding these changes.
What qualifies as a big brand or company?
Viber works with public figures, celebrities and high-profile companies such as major news outlets, CPG brands, tech, sports and finance companies and more. Some brands and companies that Viber currently works with include: Huffington Post, SkyScanner, Red Bull, Shakira, UNICEF, FC Barcelona and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
Why has my application been declined?
If you think you are still qualified and should be accepted as a Viber Public Account partner, consider the following:
1. Did I use a valid business email address? (only business emails are accepted or applicants)
2. Did I provide a valid website URL and social media link?
3. Do I have a valid Viber phone number?
4. Do I operate in a country in which Viber conducts business?
5. Is my company very "niche" to my country or to a circle of people?
Facebook, Telegram, Kik have approved me, why is Viber different?
While all platforms may seem similar in operations, it is not always the case, Viber Public Accounts are open to content providers at a large scale to engage with our users.
For partners (Ex: CRMs, Live Chat tools, AI platforms etc.) - What if I am a partner enabling Public Accounts for customers?
Viber strives to maintain close relationships and partnerships with its core partners that help promote their customers on our platform. If you are an existing Viber partner and are using our API to enable your customers a channel with Viber Public Accounts, existing accounts will be re-evaluated according to our new criteria but most changes will be seamless. Some accounts will be limited to existing followers, via deep linking and direct shares, and others will remain searchable through the Viber ecosystem. For any new accounts you wish to register, we will follow the new review process to determine suitability for the clients.
If you are still unsure about how to best proceed to set up an account for a customer, please contact your Viber point of contact directly. While some of these requests may get rejected, we still maintain our objectives to promote our partners through our app, on our website and on our collateral.
