We use analytics data from third-party service to help us understand how the app is used, giving us information about how to improve our products and performance.
We appreciate the data we receive through analytics as it really makes a difference. If you opt out of adding your analytics data, your overall experience won't be included in our understanding of the app's performance.
If you turn off analytics collection on Viber on your phone, it will also turn off analytics collection on your secondary devices (computer or tablet).
Please note: You must have the newest version of Viber for Desktop before you turn off analytics collection.
Personalized content means that you receive access to the most relevant services and content on the app. If you opt out of allowing content personalization, we will still provide you with content and services across the app, but not all of what you see will be relevant to you.
Some of the services that are personalized using the information we have include bots, games and promotions.
Interest-based ads are provided by third parties and use your unique advertising identifier along with some technical data about you (your language preference, country, city and device data) to make sure that the ads you see are of interest of you. Read our Cookies and Tracking policy for more information about how this works.
For example, allowing interest-based ads means that you won't see ads aimed at someone over 50 when you are only 25. Or the other way around.
Some points to note when changing your choice for interest-based ads:
You must be on the latest version of the app to be able to access these settings.
Choosing not to allow interest-based ads on your phone will update your settings on any other devices you use Viber on (Desktop or tablet).
You must be on the latest version of Viber for Desktop to disallow interest-based ads.
As well as changing your settings here, all Viber users can change your ad settings on your phone.
When you have made your selection, close the app down fully, and then restart it to apply your new settings.
Accurate location-based services are those that are based in your local area. By giving us access to your device's location, we can make sure that the content you see on the app is relevant to where you are. Some services or partners may require your accurate location and some form of identifier (ad id or other) in order to show you relevant content based on your location. You can opt-out of sharing this by tapping this button on the privacy screen.
For example a search for local restaurants. With accurate location-based services turned on, you will see restaurants in your local neighborhood. With it switched off, you will see restaurants across a wider area, even a whole city.
Please note: Some services only receive your location from us, without any other information that could be used to identify you (for example, your phone number, username or user image). These services will always receive your accurate location.
