Protecting you from harmful chain messages
Viber continually innovates using AI and the best technology around to protect you from spam and fraud in messages.
As we identify spam in chain messages, we work to stop them from spreading among users.
What are chain messages?
Chain messages encourage you to forward the message to your friends in order to receive a present or reward.
Most of these messages are spam messages that contain harmful links, phone numbers, or email addresses which are identified as spam or fraud, and can cause damage if opened.
Blocking chain messages
If you try to send a chain message containing a scam link Viber’s system will block you from sending it to other people.
Your chats will remain encrypted, Viber can’t read your messages.
Report a chain message
Contact Viber support to report messages that you suspect contain harmful links.
If you think a message has been identified as a chain message and blocked when it shouldn’t be, please contact support.
