What is Viber Out credit?


Viber Out credit allows you to make a Viber Out call. You purchase Viber Out credit through the application and pay through the app store. When you make a Viber Out call it will reduce the Viber Out credit you have purchased depending on the rates of the country you are calling and the duration of the call. 

 


How do I make a Viber Out call?

 
  1. Open Viber
  2. Enter your Viber contact list
  3. Tap the contact you would like to call
  4. Select Viber Out


You can also use Viber's keypad to dial the number you would like to call.  Please make sure you're dialing the number in the full international format:  (+)(Country Code)(Area Code without the leading 0's)(Phone Number)
 

Viber will automatically place the call through Viber Out if the number you are dialing is a landline or a mobile line that is not a registered Viber number. If you do not have any Viber Out credit, you will be prompted to a purchase screen where you can check rates and make a purchase.


If can't make a Viber Out call after following the instructions, please open a support ticket here. When opening the ticket please include the following information:
 

  1. The full number you are trying to call (including the country code)
  2. Description of what happens when you try to place the call


 



 

How much will a Viber Out call cost?


Viber Out's low rates vary based on your call's destination. Thus, the cost of your Viber Out call will depend on the call's destination.

You can find a list of the Viber Out rates 
here or you can find them in the Viber application following the instructions below:
 

  1. Enter the More Options menu in Viber
  2. Select Viber Out
  3. Click Get Rates
  4. Type in the Country or phone number to view the rates

* Please note that some countries will initially only show the most common calling rates. Click on the country to see all of the rates displayed.
 


How can I purchase Viber Out credits?


Purchasing credit through the Viber application:
 

  1. Open the More Options menu
  2. Select Viber Out
  3. Select Buy Credit
  4. Choose the credit amount you would like to purchase
  5. Select Buy and follow the payment instructions displayed by your app store
  6. Click here for more information regarding the payment options on your device

Purchasing credit through the website:
 
  1. Enter the website here: https://account.viber.com/
    • If you would like you can view the rates first on the website here
  2. Login (if you already have an account) or Create Account (instructions below)
  3. After you have logged in, select the Buy Credit option
  4. Choose the credit amount you wish to purchase
  5. You have an option to enable automatic top-up
  6. Choose payment method: either Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or PayPal details.
  7. You will receive a payment confirmation from Viber to your email account. Please make sure to keep the payment confirmation in case you have any issues.

To create an account on Viber's website:
 
  • Enter your phone number
  • A code will be sent as a Viber message to your device
  • Enter this code
  • Create an account with your email account and password


Viber Out credits never expire. Taxes may be collected based on the applicable tax rules at the time of your purchase. The credit balance that is displayed in your account does not include tax.
 

 



What are the purchase credit options from my mobile device?

 

 



On iOS devices you will have the option to purchase credits in-app using your iTunes store account.
 

  1. Select the credit amount you wish to purchase
  2. You will then be asked to sign in to the iTunes Store using your Apple ID
  3. Once you have entered your information you will be asked to confirm your In-App purchase
  4. Select Buy and the credits will be added to your Viber Out account


After making your in-app purchase of credits from the iTunes store you will receive a confirmation email from Apple. Please make sure to keep the payment confirmation in case you have any issues.


 
 



On Android devices you will have the option to purchase credits using your Google Play account.
 
  1. Select the credit amount you wish to purchase
  2. On the next screen choose the Google Play option.
    • *If you are immediately directed to the purchase screen without choosing a payment method, this means you will be paying via your Google Pay account.
  3. Select Buy and the credits will be added to your Viber Out account


After making your in-app purchase of credits from the Google Play store you will receive a confirmation email from Google. Please make sure to keep the payment confirmation in case you have any issues.







In some countries there is a service called Fortumo, which allows you to pay via your mobile carrier. If this option is available to you it will appear in your payment options for Viber Out credits on Android devices.

This will only be available in the following countries:

Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Kuwait, Latvia, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and UK
 
  1. Select the credit amount you wish to purchase
  2. In the next screen choose to checkout with Pay with mobile
  3. Confirm the purchase amount, you will be charged on your mobile phone bill
  4. After confirming, the purchase amount will be added to your Viber Out account



 

Viber now offers an option for our users in Myanmar to pay with cash via a partnership with Red Dot. Now users who don't have a bank account or access to online payments can simply visit a local retailer with a Red Dot machine and purchase Viber Out credit with cash!
 
  1. Go to a local retailer with Red Dot 
  2. The merchant at the store will ask you for the phone number linked to your Viber Out account (you must already have Viber on your mobile device in order to purchase Viber Out credit!)
  3. The merchant will then give you options for how much money you would like to add to your account
  4. Pay the merchant using cash
  5. After reviewing your details the merchant will confirm the transaction, please request a receipt
  6. Red Dot will send the transaction immediately to Viber and the Viber Out will be added to your account
  7. Make sure you get a confirmation message via Viber confirming the transaction
 


Where can I see my Viber Out credit balance?


To view your balance from your Viber app:
 
  1. Open Viber
  2. Click on the More screen
  3. Your Viber Out credit balance will be displayed under the Viber Out button

  1. Open Viber
  2. Click on the Contacts screen
    • Select All contacts on iOS devices
  3. Your Viber Out credit balance will be displayed

To view your balance from the web:
 
  1. Enter the website here: https://account.viber.com/
  2. Login to the Viber account you created
  3. Here you can see your balance
  

 

Will the recipient of my call be charged for receiving a Viber Out call from me?

 

When you place a call to someone using the Viber Out service, they receive a regular call and there is no indication that the call is coming from Viber.

Therefore, receiving a Viber Out call is the same as receiving a normal GSM call and the recipient is subject to the same charges stated in the contract with their GSM service provider.
 


 

Where can I see my Viber Out payment history?


All of your Viber Out activity, including call history and payments, can be found in the Viber Out menu. To check your charges and payment history from the Viber app:
 

  1. Open Viber
  2. Enter the More options menu
  3. Select Viber Out
  4. Select Viber Out Payments
  5. Here you can see your Viber Out payment history

To view your payment history from the web:
 
  1. Enter the website here: https://account.viber.com/
  2. Login to the Viber account you created
  3. Click on Payment History
  4. Select the month of history you wish to view
  5. You will be presented with the records for the specified month


You will receive a receipt for every purchase via e-mail at the end of each successful transaction. Receipts for transactions made through in-app service providers will be sent directly from those providers.

 



Can I have my Viber Out credits renew automatically?
 

Viber offers an option to have your Viber Out credits renew automatically when your balance falls below $2.00 USD. By selecting this option Viber will automatically charge you (based on your payment method - Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or PayPal) each time your balance is less than $2.00 USD.

Turn this setting on through the website:
 

  1. Enter the website here: https://account.viber.com/
  2. Login (if you already have an account) or Create Account (instructions here)
  3. After you have logged in, select the Buy Credit option
  4. Choose the credit amount you wish to purchase
  5. Click the check box next to the "Renew automatically when balance falls below $2.00 USD" option
  6. Select the payment method via: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or PayPal
 


What do I do if I don't see credits I purchased in my app?


Please restart your device and see if your balance has been updated. 

If your credit still does not appear, please send us a screenshot of the Order ID for this purchase in a support ticket here

If you did not receive an email confirmation for this purchase, you should see it in your Google Wallet / iTunes / Microsoft account purchase history.

 


What happens to my credit if I uninstall and re-install Viber OR switch phones?


Your Viber Out credit will not be affected if you uninstall and re-install Viber or switch mobile devices. This is because Viber Out credits are assigned to your phone number, which serves as your Viber ID.

Therefore, as long as you register Viber on your new mobile device with the same phone number you purchased the credits on you will always have them.

 



If I switch my phone number, can I move the credits to the new number?


Yes, you can move the credits to your new number by opening a ticket with our support team so that our Viber Out support representative may assist you.

When you open a ticket please include the following information:
 
  1. Your old phone number (where you purchased the credits)
  2. The new number (where you would like the credits to be transferred to)
  3. One of your Viber Out credit purchase confirmation IDs (or a screen capture of this) from your old account. This order ID usually arrives via email after your purchase has completed.
